We must be on a sushi kick…

Stein’s Dad is in town for work, so we try to spend as much time together as possible. We wanted to find something for dinner that was a little more ‘Shed for the Wed’ friendly, so we located a sushi restaurant close to the Westerville/Polaris area since we were at J.Crew getting Stein’s wedding suit altered at Polaris.

We settled on Sushi En, a small sushi spot close to the Rave Motion Pictures movie theater in the area. The restaurant is a tad on the small side, but cozy. It was easy to get to and super easy to park. We were seated right away and greeted within 3 minutes.

Our server was friendly and brought us our drink order quickly, two waters and an ice tea. Similar to other sushi restaurants, there was a sheet of paper where patron can circle the sushi roll they would like to order. We opted to get our favorite appetizer, Edamame, and we were not disappointed; it cooked well and full of flavor.

We wasted no time and selected several rolls:

1 Spicy California Roll | $5.45
2 Spicy Tuna Rolls | $6.95
1 Tuna Roll | $5.95
1 California Dreaming | $10.95
(King Crab, Shrimp, Crab, Cucumber, Avocado & Jap. Mayo, rolled in Masago)

With a sushi bar to our right, we had to opportunity to watch the rolls be made which was pretty neat.

The rolls were delicious, Stein particularly enjoyed his California Dreaming roll and said it was packed full of flavor. The fish was fresh and the prices were great.

Our favorite part of the meal came after our dishes were taken away. The server brought over what looked like art. It was a creatively sliced and cut orange that is delivered after every dinner; so intriguing! The sweet orange was just what we needed to satisfy our need for a bit of sugar after the meal. Any inclination of needing an ice cream cone, or a piece of chocolate cake was satisfied with this sweet healthy treat! Such a nice touch, we loved it.

We would highly recommend Sushi En for anyone looking for a quick bite that is affordable and has a fun twist at the end!

Before dropping Stein off at the airport for his bachelor weekend in Vegas, we thought it would be a good idea to grab a bite before he took off.

After deciding we were both in the mood for sushi, we wanted to stay close to the airport, so we settled on Edamame Sushi & Grill in the Easton Mall area. The restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall style area on the West side of the mall.

The decor was very interesting, modern and green; there were green decorations everywhere. One feature that Stein and I found interesting was that there were two rooms that were perched above the main dining area, we presumed for private parties, but they were not private at all with clear glass and they appeared to seat about 15 people.

We were seated quickly and only waited a minute or two to be greeted by our server. We were quite hungry, so we quickly ordered some edamame (we had to try the item that the restaurant was named after) and didn't wait to place our order for sushi.

The edamame was great, although a bit salty, it was cooked well and we really enjoyed munching on it before our sushi arrived.

It wasn't too crowded so our sushi was ready in about 10 minutes. We ordered:

Blind Date Roll
Spicy crab salad, cucumber, cream cheese topped with baked tuna, jalapenos and masago

Easton
Panko crab stick, avocado, cucumber, and masago, in a soy wrap topped with spicy tuna and unagi sauce

Spicy California
California roll with spicy mayo

Spicy Tuna
Spicy tuna, cucumber

Spicy Yellowtail
Spicy yellowtail, cucumber

The sushi we chose was all delicious. It was fresh and prepared well. The Blind Date Roll was unique with a jalapeno piece on each serving; Stein wasn't crazy about the cream cheese in this roll, but it was tasty. The Easton Roll was also good topped with spicy tuna. The other three were basic, but well made.

Not as delicious was our bill... It's amazing how quickly rolls around $10 each can add up. Our bill was just under $50, which was a bit shocking considering we didn't have any alcohol. The prices, although a bit high, are clearly labeled on the menu so there was no real reason for surprise, if we had paid attention.

Our service was good, and overall, we enjoyed our experience. We would recommend Edamame Sushi & Grill for a date night, evening out with the girls, or guys. A fun spot!
